We had almost no coverage (just whatever blood draws could be billed as related to something else) and no sudden inheritance to cover our expenses. It was the worst part of the decision, gambling that much money on a maybe. Like many people, I justifed it by assuming i would have to spend that much on therapy to come to terms with having never tried in the first place.

Good luck with the RE choice! I felt so good about switching, but in may case the whole thing was way more obvious. Sounds like you don't have bad choices!Lorrainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04180034761243431694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7557679011566521438.post-553863193357896842013-02-20T20:22:06.517-08:002013-02-20T20:22:06.517-08:00I've also felt like the financial aspect is no...I've also felt like the financial aspect is not discussed enough in blogland -- which is why a couple of years ago, Lori and I hosted a blog carnival on the topic. If you'd like to see 39 people's perspectives on the money part of family building:
http://lavenderluz.com/2011/04/dollars-and-sense.html

As for switching, aside from skill, bedside manner can be very important, but for me even more important in your day-to-day satisfaction is the bedside manner of the clinic if you will -- is the receptionist reasonably pleasant, do they call you back, can you get an answer when you need one, etc. Based on that I think I'd prefer #3 -- but meeting with #4 to see if he'll say "I wouldn't treat you because the chances are too low" since he isn't for-profit sounds like a helpful way to calm the profit concern about #3.

Or maybe you'll meet with #4 and he'll have a totally different treatment approach and bedside manner that you'll like better!Baby Smiling In Back Seathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06483533946303787478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7557679011566521438.post-17062541008157100182013-02-19T09:52:12.952-08:002013-02-19T09:52:12.952-08:00That's a really tough decision :( When I switc...That's a really tough decision :( When I switched REs is was really a really easy decision because we couldn't keep going with our old RE. It was still worrisome to an extent though.

I hope that you can get a better vibe for the new possible RE and get some direction. It's definitely a lot to consider.

As for the financial aspect, we never did IVF because it was beyond our reach and I was always afraid of the gamble to. I often use the gambling analogy, I mean really- how many people are okay with throwing down $20k on 30-40% odds? I know it's easy for people to say, "Oh what about IVF?" but I know most of them wouldn't ever gamble that much money.AnotherDreamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487881766884178761noreply@blogger.com
